A Slight, Often Barely Perceptible Augmentation
cold comes in increments
bass violin drop, drift of the sun
winter opens its purse
where did we put last year’s gloves
we become shutters, shudder
into ourselves, something added or gained
grass steps into sackcloth
leaves kaddish at our feet
when we breathe, doors open and close
a small negative or positive change
snow clambers onto the screen
high notes on the ice piano clink white
geese solder a V into metallic grey night
opens its ghazal of stars
on the couch your shoulder leans into mine
our fund accumulates in the hourglass
