Untitled Country Review seeks evocative (and provocative) poetry that effectively and eloquently reconciles the two (seemingly at-odds) terms in the journal's title. In other words, we are interested in poetry that is at once challenging and accessible. We are interested in poetry that matters... Please read our past issues and read the guidelines below before submitting.
We accept submissions of poetry and art, and publish semi-annually on the following calendar. Book reviews and interviews are by invitation only. Submissions made outside the reading period will be deleted unread.
POETRY: Please submit 2-6 previously unpublished poems and a brief (50 words) bio using the online submission form.
· Fall-Winter (Oct/Nov publication) - Submit May 1-September 1
· Spring-Summer (April publication) - Submit Nov. 1 - Feb. 1
· Special Issues - Reading periods will be announced here and through Duotrope.
ART: Please query first using the online submission form. Please query with an introductory message containing links to your unpublished work if available online; or submit low resolution samples using the online submission form.
BOOK REVIEWS and INTERVIEWS: Please query first using the online submission form.
Within one day of your submission you should receive an email response confirming receipt. If you do not, please feel free to query with a follow up email: editor[underscore]ucr[at]me[dot]com. We no longer accept email submissions.
You should expect to hear about the status of your submission within 30-60 days; we will respond with a clear yes, no, or maybe, and/or we may ask to hold over your work for the next issue.
By submitting your poetry you consent to having it published and archived here, provided it has not been published elsewhere, and you agree to inform us immediately if your work is accepted elsewhere. Before publishing your work we will ask for your email confirmation, including a statement that the writing is your own. There is no payment and all rights revert to the author after first time appearance here. If your work is reprinted, we ask that you credit Untitled Country Review with first publication.
